 Sitecore XP 10 - Initial Release Automated installation

Today we will talk about the installation of Sitecore Experience Platform 10.0 Initial Release on a development machine. Which is very easy now because Sitecore have provided a GUI interface for the installation (Thanks to Sitecore Team). You just need to put the values, click next, and all the steps will be taken care by that.

Setup Prerequisites

Operating System	Windows 10 (64-bit)
IIS	IIS 10.0
.NET Framework	.Net Framework 4.8.0 or later
Windows Hosting Module	.NET Core 2.1.18 Windows Hosting Module
Database	Microsoft SQL Server 2017
Solr	SOLR 8.4.0
Sitecore XP 10.0 Initial release	Graphical setup package for XP Single

Installation Steps

1)   Download Sitecore XP 10.0 initial release Graphical setup package for XP Single and extract it, it will look like the below folder after extraction

2)   Click on the Setup.exe file, it will open a Welcome screen. Click on the Start button on that screen to move to the next step.

 

3)      Here it will ask you to install the correct versions of Sitecore Install Framework and the Windows Server prerequisites.

You a click on the Install button OR you can skip this step if you have already installed all prerequisites.

4)   The next step is Install Solr. You can skip this step if you already have Solr 8.4.0 installed on the machine, if not please fill the below value and click on Install button.

Solr port                                         :             8985 (it could be any port)

Windows service and path prefix:             Solr 8.4.0 (prefix for the service name)

Install path                                    :             C:\Solr (path where the Solr will be downloaded)

Once you click on Install button, it will download Solr 8.4.0 on the Install path and install Solr as a service (see below screen)

Browse https://localhost:8985/solr to see if solr is running

5)   After Solr installation, move to the next steps for Sitecore settings and fill the below values and click on Next button for the next step

6)    This is a screen for Microsoft SQL Server settings. Please fill the values for installed SQL Server on your machine and click on Next button.

7)   This is a screen for Solr settings. Please fill the values for installed Solr on your machine and click on Next button.

8)   This screen is for selecting Optional module for Sitecore.  If you want to install the SXA with this Sitecore installation, then tick the checkbox and click on Next button

9)    This screen will show you the Summary of the list of settings you specified, click on Next button for the next step

10)   This screen validates all the requirements, if they are in place and click on Install button. 

            The installation will take around 30 minutes. 

            Open any of the browser and browse the Sitecore url (for me it was https://sc10sc.dev.local/sitecore)
